I create this handmade rustic plate collection from black clay, inspired by the raw textures of Ottoman copper shallow bowls (sahan). These plates, which you can use for serving dishes such as pasta, appetizers, and breakfast items, are made entirely using hand-rolled, shaped, and burnished clay slabs, and achieve their final appearance through manual distressing. Therefore, no two pieces are exactly alike.
The patterns on the plates, which are also handmade, are both distinct from one another and create a surprising sense of harmony when brought together.
More pieces and colors will be added to the collection seasonally.
Care for Your Rustic Plates
All plates are handmade. For this reason, slight differences in size, shape, color, and glaze may occur compared to what you see in the pictures, making each piece unique and one-of-a-kind. All plates are made using non-toxic, food-safe clays and glazes. They are microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe. I recommend that you minimize the contact of your ceramics' unglazed surfaces with foods or beverages that may leave stains.
