I craft this handmade rustic plate collection from black clay, inspired by the raw textures of Ottoman copper shallow dishes (sahan). These plates, which can be used for serving appetizers, mezes, or breakfast items, are made entirely from hand-rolled, shaped, and burnished clay slabs, and achieve their final appearance through a manual distressing process. Therefore, no two pieces are exactly alike.
The hand-crafted patterns on the plates are both distinct from one another and form a surprising unity when brought together.
More pieces and colors will be added to the collection seasonally.
Care for Your Rustic Plates
All plates are handmade. For this reason, slight variations in size, shape, color, and glaze may occur compared to what you see in the pictures, making each piece unique and one-of-a-kind. All plates are made using non-toxic, food-safe clays and glazes. They are microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe. I recommend minimizing the contact of your ceramic's unglazed surfaces with staining foods or beverages.
