I create this handmade rustic plate collection from black clay, inspired by the raw textures of Ottoman copper shallow dishes (sahan). These plates, which you can use for serving dishes such as pasta, appetizers, and breakfast items, are made using clay slabs that are entirely hand-rolled, shaped, and burnished, and they achieve their final appearance through hand-distressing. Therefore, no two pieces are exactly the same.
The handmade patterns on the plates are both distinct from one another and create a surprising sense of unity when brought together.
More pieces and colors will be added to the collection seasonally.
Care for Your Rustic Plates
All plates are handmade. For this reason, slight differences in size, shape, color, and glaze may occur compared to what you see in the pictures, making each piece unique and one-of-a-kind. All plates are made using non-toxic, food-safe clays and glazes. They are microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe. I particularly recommend minimizing the contact of your ceramic's unglazed surfaces with foods or drinks that may leave stains.
