I create this handmade rustic plate collection from black clay, inspired by the raw textures of Ottoman copper shallow dishes (sahan). The plates, which can be used for serving dishes such as pasta, appetizers, and breakfast items, are made using clay slabs that are completely hand-rolled, shaped, and burnished, achieving their final appearance through hand-distressing. Therefore, no two pieces are exactly the same.
More pieces and colors will be added to the collection seasonally.
Care for Your Rustic Plates
All plates are handmade. For this reason, slight differences in size, shape, color, and glaze may occur compared to what you see in the pictures, making each piece unique and one-of-a-kind. All plates are made using non-toxic, food-safe clays and glazes. They are suitable for use in the microwave and are dishwasher safe. I particularly recommend minimizing the contact of the unglazed surfaces of your ceramics with staining foods or drinks.
